Bassam Ahmed Sayad
Sayad is a board certified healthcare executive and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Prior to his current role, Bassam served in different leadership positions in the UAE and USA including Hospital Director of Al Noor Hospital – Khalifa branch in Abu Dhabi, where he oversaw a strategic turn-around plan, the hospital’s system integration strategy including an enhanced clinical model, master facility planning, and physician and employee engagement plans.
Mr. Sayad has over 20 years of healthcare experience with Johns Hopkins Medical System in the USA and was part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine International senior management. During his tenure with Johns Hopkins, Bassam spent over fifteen years in senior operation roles including his previous positions as Chief Operating Officer of Corniche Hospital in Abu Dhabi, Managing Director of Global Services for the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as Director of Pathology and Laboratory services. He also served as Faculty Associate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Planning.
Among other professional accomplishments in prior roles, Bassam developed and launched internal engagement strategy providing transparency and communication plans for management and employee engagement; executed alignment of compliance and enterprise risk management to better align resources with leadership vision; created lean performance strategy and decision support functions to enable analytics-based insightful decision-making, and championed a culture of performance driving for value and stewardship of resources that resulted in successfully meeting organizational goals. Bassam has also led hospital initiatives in process improvement to reduce wait time and enhance patient flow, oversaw the renovation and expansion of hospital services including NICU, OPD, Urgent Care, and inpatient wards, spearheaded consolidation of clinical services, and led Patient Experience initiatives.
Mr. Bassam Sayad, as the Chief Operating Officer at Cambridge Medical and Rehabilitation Center, focuses on facilities management in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, with direct oversight and responsibility the operations of the physical plants, procurement, logistics, transportation, support services, and outpatient clinic management.
Bassam has a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology - Clinical Laboratory Science from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, and a Master in Business Administration from Loyola University of Maryland, USA. In addition, he is a trained Lean Sigma executive by the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. He is also the Vice President of the American College of Healthcare Executives - MENA Group.
